POP science reports have been raving about how towels, clothes and sheets impregnated with tiny nanoparticles can kill germs and wipe out body odour. A good example is nano-socks, containing nano-silver, which apparently stop feet smelling, no matter how sweaty. But there have also been mutterings in scientific journals about the risks of using such nano-textiles. Nanoparticles are so tiny - sized between 1 and 100 nanometres (and one nm is one billionth of a metre) - that scientists worry they will shake out of these textiles, and be absorbed ...
