The boom in tourism in Myanmar has inflated local demand for international food brands, as the local branded food manufacturing base remains very limited in scope. Tourism is expected to continue to grow due to the country’s first democratically elected government coming into power last month (April). The ministry of hotels and tourism announced a record 4.6 million international tourists in 2015, which was up from 790,000 in 2010.
