THE EUROPEAN Parliament’s transport committee has backed a new European Union (EU) regulation creating a new system allowing the European Commission to protect EU airlines against unfair non-EU competition. The proposal would create a complaints investigation system probing possible unfair practices, such as non-EU airlines receiving direct government payments, preferential airport service access or unfair pricing by non-EU airlines.
