MEPS BACK LOW VAT RATE FOR BEAUTY SALON COSMETICS

THE EUROPEAN Parliament has backed offering all European Union (EU) member states the right to levy low rate VAT on treatments offered by beauty salons, promoting their cosmetics sales. The European Commission proposal - requiring approval by EU ministers to go forward - would apply from January 2011. Its aim is boosting business in labour intensive services such as salons.
