MEPS BACK BOOSTING EU CASH CARRYING CONTROLS

PROPOSALS to tighten checks on cash entering or leaving the European Union (EU) were boosted yesterday (Monday Dec 4) when they were backed by the European Parliament’s civil liberties and economic affairs. It supported amending the EU’s 2005 first cash control regulation (CCR), which requires travellers to declare sums worth more than EUR10,000 when leaving or entering the EU.
