BY MARK ROWEGOVERNMENT authorities in Malaysia have banned a range of books based on fantasy and horror. The move appears to mainly target Malay and Chinese literature, but the vague guidelines have raised concerns amongst local publishers and retailers that English language books may also be blocked from sale. The Malaysian Home Ministry said that books that contain "superstitious and negative elements" and which may "unduly influence" young people were the main target.
