Keith NuthallLOS Angeles Airport (LAX) last month began a six-month programme to recycle food leftovers into power generators, which feed electricity into the local grid. The programme has been launched in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works.The programme is expected to lead to the recycling of all discarded food from LAX, and is being watched by public agencies and municipalities nationwide for its potential to divert waste from landfills, while at the same time generating energy.The potential payoff is great.
