BY KEITH NUTHALLDETAILS of restrictions imposed on exports to European buyers of leather raw materials have been highlighted in the detailed European Union (EU) market report. It identifies India, China, the US, Pakistan and Russia as "very important markets" for the supply of leather raw materials, whilst Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, South Africa, Malaysia and Brazil are labelled as "important suppliers (mainly by tanners)".Overall, EU imports of leather raw materials were worth Euro 2 billion in 2003, a significant increase on 1999's Euro 1.4 ...
