BY MONICA DOBIEA RECENT survey released from the Port of Los Angeles showed that ships account for the overwhelming proportion of emissions in the city's harbour zone, except carbon monoxide, where road vehicles were the worst culprits.Ships were responsible for 86% of sulphur dioxide and 55% of diesel particulate matter, compared to 1% and 9% for heavy goods vehicles.
