BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE JOINT Research Centre (JRC) of the European Union (EU) has called for detailed tests into unexpected predictions thrown out by theoretical mathematical models on the health of seafood and fish stocks subjected to joint pollution by toxic contaminants and nutrients. Its scientists found that theoretical models suggest additional contaminants can actually counteract the damaging affects of nutrients, caused by manure runoff or sewage: "It seems that contaminants increase the stability of ecosystem."
