JAPANESE FOOD FIRMS FACING PRICE PRESSURE

It has forecast that 40% of food and daily goods firms plan to cut prices in the coming financial year - beginning March. Also, 61% are looking at mergers and acquisition activity either domestically or in Asia. With weak consumer demand and Japan stuck in a deflationary rut, two-thirds of food makers said that retailers were asking them to increase sales incentives, in addition to price cuts. ...
