The beer - which should be drunk rather than applied to the skin - has been produced by the Akita Research Institute of Food and Brewing. Marketed in Japan as "facial treatment beer", the brew is rich in hop polyphenol, which is thought to suppress an enzyme that causes wrinkles and slack skin, and is also known as a health-promoting ingredient in red wine.
