JAPAN, CHINA AGREE ON FOOD SAFETY INITIATIVE

BY JULIAN RYALL TOKYO and Beijing have agreed to work together to ensure that there is no repeat of food poisoning cases from imported frozen food from China. Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama proposed the "food safety promotion initiative" in talks with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing at the weekend. The initiative follows a series of cases last year where pesticides were found in food from China.
