BY LEE ADENDORFF THE ITALIAN Cabinet has approved a moratorium on Italy's planned nuclear energy expansion programme for at least a year following an outpouring of public concern over the recent nuclear accident in Japan. In a statement released Wednesday the government confirmed that the expansion, which had been expected involve the construction of four new plants, would be put on hold "to be able to take considered and serene decisions not conditioned by the emotions of the moment".
