THE EUROPEAN Investment Bank (EIB) is planning to lend Italian pharmaceutical manufacturer Chiesi Farmaceutici SpA Euro 30 million helping it construct a new R&D centre and upgrade existing equipment, allowing the company to rationalise its research programmes. The Parma-based firm is planning to spend Euro 60 million on this work, sharpening its development and commercialisation of products in respiratory, cardiovascular, musculo-skeletal inflammation and neonatology therapeutic areas.
