ITALIAN-GREEK GAS PIPELINE EXEMPTED FROM EU THIRD PARTY ACCESS RULES

The Poseidon pipeline being built by Edison of Italy and DEPA of Greece to promote more effective competition on the Italian gas market is to be exempted from the third party access rules of the EU's Gas Directive for a limited period of time, the European Commission has agreed. Brussels said this was to facilitate investment in the project, which will promote security of gas supply and competition.
