ITALIAN ENCYCLOPAEDIAS

THE EUROPEAN Investment Bank has drawn up plans to lend Italian encyclopaedia publisher Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana fondata da Giovanni Treccani S.p.A. up to Euro 22 million to diversify and modernise the company's product range, its use of technology and its sales channels. In particular, the bank wants to help the company finance the design and publication of new encyclopaedias, digitise a database, plus launch new school books, facsimile and arts books. The company needs to raise Euro 45 million to finance all of its development plans.
