IRELAND SMOKING BAN HAS SLASHED IRISH PUB INDOOR POLLUTION

BY MONICA DOBIETHE IRISH public place smoking ban has dramatically reduced air pollution in pubs according to a study from the Research Institute for a Tobacco Free Society in Dublin. Dr Luke Clancy, institute director and four associates measured pollution levels of 42 Dublin pubs and health levels of 73 Dublin bar staff before the ban and one year after the ban.The investigators found an 83% reduction in overall air pollution in pubs, and an 80% decrease in the airborne carcinogens (such as benzene) for patrons and staff, improving the respiratory health of bar ...
