IRELAND CENSURED BY ECJ AGAIN OVER SHELLFISH WATER

BY KEITH NUTHALLIRELAND has been condemned by European Court of Justice again for failing to keep its shellfish waters sufficiently free from pollution, as required by European Union directive 79/923/EEC. This time the court has found Ireland illegally excluded many shellfish beds from the pollution controls required by the directive, beyond its 14 officially designated shellfish zones.
