*A Taxation Laws Amendment Bill and a Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill have been proposed at South Africa’s parliament, designed to resolve anomalies regarding medical tax credits; amend debt restructuring rules; reform dividend-stripping anti-avoidance rules; change rules on debt-financed acquisitions of controlling interests in companies; introduce new rules on using foreign trusts to avoid tax; scrap requirements to submit returns about exempt or partially exempt dividends; and add new rules on correcting material errors on VAT tax invoices.
