THE INTERNATIONAL Sweeteners Association (ISA) has called for clear rules on how the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) may assess biomonitoring data in the agency’s planned review of authorisations for sweeteners that are allowed in the European Union (EU). The industry body said in a public consultation on this review that it “is critical to have clear and expert protocols issued by EFSA and/or OECD to appropriately respond to… interest in reviewing ‘biomonitoring’ data, if this is to be considered in the current re-evaluation of sweeteners.” In ...
