THE EUROPEAN Commission is pushing hard for progress on defining substances of very high concern for special authorisation under the REACH chemical control system - many used by the coatings sector. European Union (EU) industry Commissioner Antonio Tajani and environment Commissioner Janez Poto?nik have written to relevant EU ministers stressing their aim to identify 106 such substances by 2012.
