INTERNATIONAL MERCURY CONVENTION TO BE NEGOTIATED

GLOBAL negotiations are to be launched on forging an international legal agreement to control mercury. The talks will be convened by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) starting with an intergovernmental meeting that it will summon later this year. Detailed work will be carried forward in 2010 by an intergovernmental negotiation committee, which is being supported by the USA, China, India and Russia as well as the European Union
