THE DEVELOPMENT of fibre plant and tree plantations to solidify backward linkages for textile fibre within Indonesia is under consideration as the south-east Asian country seeks to diversify its fibre, yarn and textile production.
Of key importance is how textile producer the Sritex Group, which last year announced it would be building a USD250 million rayon factory in Java, to lower its dependence on imports of its key fibre. The goal is for it to be operational by the end of December (2016).
