BY MARK ROWESAND quarrying in Indonesia has been suspended for two months amidst claims by mining companies that they cannot afford new taxes and royalties imposed by the central government; investors have also blamed complicated licensing procedures designed to reduce smuggling.According to the new export base price, sand exporters must pay the Jakarta government 80 US cents per cubic meter in export tax and 60 cents in royalty.
