INDIA GROUNDHANDLING

A DECISION by the Indian government that domestic flight groundhandling should be handled only by Air India, Indian Airlines and the Airports Authority of India has proved difficult to implement and so a New Delhi deadline of July 1 has been missed, Indian press reports have claimed. Officials have blamed bureaucratic delays regarding the notification of the decision. Other newspaper sources have alleged politicians are opposing the policy as it clashes with New Delhi's preference for foreign direct investment.
