IMB WARNS OF RECORD NUMBER OF PIRATE ATTACKS ON CRUDE OIL TANKERS

BY KEITH NUTHALL THERE were more pirate attacks from January to June of this year on crude oil tankers worldwide than in the same period of any year since 2004, the latest report from the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) has shown. It notes 24 such attacks, compared to 10 in January-June 2008, 18 in 2007, four in 2006, 12 in 2005, and 11 in 2004.
