BY KEITH NUTHALL THE INTERNATIONAL Labour Organisation (ILO) is expected to adopt this November an updated Code of Practice on Safety and Health in Underground Coalmines, designed to improve conditions in what is still a high-risk working environment. This follows the acceptance of a new draft at the ILO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, by 23 experts representing worker organisations, employers and governments.
