IFC PLANS TURKEY, ROMANIA GAS INVESTMENT

THE INTERNATIONAL Finance Corporation (IFC), of the World Bank, is lending US$50 million to American oil and gas producer Toreador Resources Corporation helping it develop natural gas resources in the Black Sea's South Akcakoca Basin, off Turkey's European coast. The gas supplies will be earmarked for nearby Romanian and Turkish consumers, with the IFC promoting "natural gas consumption as a convenient and cleaner fuel."
