IFC HAILS HAITI OIL-FIRED POWER STATION PROJECT

A HEAVY fuel oil-fired power plant supplying 30 MW of electricity to Haiti has started operations on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince. The US dollars USD57 million plant was funded by the World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC), South Korea's Korea East-West Power Co, Ltd, and local investors. The plant will boost the Haitian capital's power capacity by 40%.
