ICAO OFFICIALS TO START WORKING ON PROTECTING ATC DATA SYSTEMS FROM CYBER ATTACK

THE AIR navigation bureau of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is to start working with cyber-crime experts to strengthen the security of growing data flows, of critical importance in keeping planes safe.
Steve Creamer, the bureau director, told Jane’s Airport Review: “We believe a cyber-security strategy is important.” ICAO will be examining how best to ensure data-based air traffic management and navigation systems are protected from intrusion and damage from electronic sources, whether intentional or unintentional.
