A REPORT by US pressure group Human Rights Watch has accused American meatpackers and slaughterhouses of violating basic human rights because of poor working conditions. It notes that the USA meatpacking's injury rate is more than three times that of the country's private industry overall: 20 injuries per 100 meatpacking workers in 2001 for instance, against 5.7.
