HERSHEY CLOSES SMITHS FALLS CONFECTIONARY PLANT IN CANDA

PENNSYLVANIA based chocolate giant, Hershey, has announced it will close its plant in Smiths Falls, Ontario, 60km south of Ottawa, after 44 years in operation. Roughly 500 people will lose their jobs. The phased shut down will begin late 2007, continuing into 2008. Hershey is transferring US and Canadian production to Mexico.
