BY MONICA DOBIEGUINNESS UDV has signaled optimism about the future of "party drinks" such as alcopops amidst the gloom of the war against terrorism, by buying a major Pennsylvania brewery operated by Pabst Brewing to expand production of Smirnoff Ice malt beverage.Despite the evidence of a decrease in sales of such beverages since the events of September 11 Guinness, has paid US$29.8 million to buy the Fogelsville brewery in the Lehigh Valley and will spend another $15 million to retrofit its facilities for Smirnoff Ice production, set to begin in February ...
