GROUNDWATER DIRECTIVE

THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) Council of Ministers has approved a groundwater directive that lays down standards on how member states should keep such vital drinking water supplies clean. The legislation gives national governments flexibility in determining what pollutants should be tackled, however, reflecting the diversity of environmental conditions across Europe.
