AN INNOVATIVE system of drone balloons that operate as airborne mobile phone masts can be operated safely within existing air traffic control systems, its company insists. Project Loon, developed by Google-associated ‘X’, the research and development arm of Google parent Alphabet Inc, involves a network of balloons beaming internet signals via wireless communication system LTE.
