DETAILED documentation requirements required for the international trade in genetically modified foodstuffs have been agreed by parties to the Cartegena Protocol on Biosafety. The European Commission has hailed the documents as "clear, meaningful and practical for both exporters and importers of agricultural products". Signatory governments, meeting in Brazil, also approved refined rules on risk assessments for GM organisms, creating a web-based GM information exchange, and on helping developing countries boost GM biosafety controls. ...
