HUMAN rights group Global Witness is calling for a revamp of US money laundering regulations and enforcement to target banks, auditors and lawyers that enable wrongdoers. The call follows a detailed analysis by the non-governmental organisation of the alleged 1MDB Malaysian investment fraud, with Global Witness criticising how Malaysians Riza Aziz and Jho Low were able to siphon billions through the US to fund a lavish Hollywood lifestyle – the two deny wrongdoing.
