GERMANY REPORTS HAIR DYE DANGER PROBLEMS

EUROPEAN Union (EU) consumer protection information service RAPEX has reported market recalls in Germany of Indian hair dyes over breaches of the EU cosmetics directive. One involved henna hair dye 'Afrin's Supreme Red Henna', for containing 1.9% of the oxidation hair dye 2-Nitro-p-phenylendiamine. And the other was the 'Herbal' branded 'Naturally Black Henna', which contained 12% p-phenylenediamine (only 2% is allowed under the directive in hair dyes).
