GERMANY PORK HEALTH – ECJ

THE EUROPEAN Court of Justice (ECJ) has censured the German government for failing to write directive EC/88/2001 on ensuring the health of pigmeat into its national legislation by the deadline of January 2003. The European Commission subsequently launched legal action at the ECJ, which has resulted in the censure. Germany now claims it has implemented the directive.
