GERMANY ECJ APPEAL

GERMANY has brought an action in the European Court of Justice against the European Commission's directive to outlaw tobacco advertising in newspapers and magazines and at international sporting events, charging that Brussels has "overstepped its authority" in the matter. Germany successfully blocked the EU's previous 1998 ad ban directive at the ECJ.
