GERMANY BIOPHARM PLANT

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has authorised Germany to grant Euro78 million to help Merck KGaA build a new biopharmaceuticals plant for oncology products in Jena, Thüringia. The aid will help create 280 direct jobs and is below the 35 per cent maximum proportion of total costs allowed for such payments. The plant will focus on innovative oncology products based on antibodies from the cloning of animal cells and are intended to treat various cancers. The total cost of the project is Euro254 million and it is expected to generate another 211 jobs ...
