BY KEITH NUTHALL GERMAN chemical giant BASF is taking the European Commission to court over what it regards as legally unjustified delays over deciding European Union (EU) market approval for a GM potato modified to supply industrial uses as well as food. BASF has argued that the Amflora potato is a "safe and environmentally friendly product". It is modified to have additional starch, useful in paper, adhesive and textile production.
