E & J Gallo of California has confirmed it found "low levels" of TCA in a random sampling of their wine but told it will not be recalling any wine and stressed there is no health risk posed to consumers. The contamination was first reported in the Wine Spectator after a wine critic detected "chalky" and "bitter" flavours in Gallo wines. Gallo would not specify the amount of contaminated wine beyond stressing that contamination was on a small scale.
