THE EUROPEAN food and drink industry has been keeping a weather eye on negotiations in Geneva at the World Trade Organisation (WTO), where stubborn attempts are being made to keep alive the Doha Development Round on liberalising global commerce.
Diplomats and officials from the WTO's 153 members are back discussing the complex formulae required to balance the needs and aspirations of the world's food sector - in all its staggering diversity - whilst reducing tariffs, subsidies and technical barriers to trade.
