FOOD ADDITIVES

THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) Council of Ministers has approved changes to EU food additive legislation (other than colourings and sweeteners), adopting European Parliament amendments passed in July to extend its controls to flavourings. Ministers also authorised two new sweeteners (sucralose and salts of aspartame and acesulfame).
