SPECIAL environment-friendly techniques within airport and groundhandling services have reduced fuel usage and pollution during the first certified 'green' trans-Atlantic flights. These were undertaken from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Miami airports through the AIRE (Atlantic Interoperability Initiative to Reduce Emissions) programme, operated by the European Commission and the USA Federal Aviation Administration.
