FATF REFORMS AGREED AMIDST GENERAL, BUT NOT UNIVERSAL, WELCOME

Reform of the Financial Action Task Force's (FATF) Recommendations was formally agreed at the plenary session in Paris on February 15 after some two years of high-powered negotiations and a vast amount of consultation. The basic ground rules for the global fight against money laundering have been pitched forward into new territory. Some cynics fret that the changes go nowhere near far enough, and some of the things they say seem justified.
