US petrol station giant Exxon Mobil is attempting to curb underage smoking. It will now require sales assistants to check the identification of anyone who appears younger than 27 years old, so as to not sell cigarettes to those under 18. Exxon Mobil runs around 1,000 American retail outlets across the US and is the second major US retailer, following pharmaceuticals chain Walgreens, to enact an underage policy.
