EX-USSR QUOTAS

THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) Council of Ministers has frozen the steel import quota access for exporters from Russia, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan at its 2004 level, pending the negotiation of new trade deals. These temporary quotas for 2005 will be automatically scrapped once these new agreements come into force. The three country's ongoing quota allocation takes account of the expansion of quotas following the accession to the EU of 10 new member states in May.
